- Fernando has over 10 years of combined experience as an entrepreneur, consultant and technology manager in software development, business process consulting, biometrics and identity, and marketing.
- Prior to formally beginning his professional career in 2013, he participated in multiple business and innovation projects as an IT Intern for a local consulting firm.
- In 2013, Fernando launched his first formal entrepreneurship, incubated at the ITESM Business Incubator. Scitus was a web development shop using Scrum methodology. He had the opportunity to learn a lot about collaboration, the importance of partnerships, pitching and selling as well as using a wide range of new technologies. Some of the projects built include a Fleet Management System, an Embedded System to track Semi Trailer real-time weight, a Custom Content Management System for client’s projects, and others.
- In 2015, after successfully executing several projects in partnership with a Digital Marketing Agency, they decided on merging to offer more comprehensive digital solutions. Cuadrangular found a niche opportunity developing technology for the public sector, which later allowed them to introduce digital campaigns within the industry. Fernando took charge of Business Development for a year and then opened an office in Mexico City and transitioned to Chief Operations Officer.
- By the end of 2017, Fernando decided to take a step back on the entrepreneurship journey he had started and prepared an exit transition.
- Driven by intellectual curiosity in a new industry, Fernando joined a Biometrics company focused on regulated sectors, which offered him an opportunity to continue develop his consulting and technology skills in the Financial and Fintech ecosystem. He participated in developing strategic innovation projects for the company’s portfolio, designing solution architectures, and leading technical and consultative efforts for sales processes.
- At the end of 2019, Fernando was hired by a US-based software development company with plans to open an office in Mexico City. He worked multiple management roles that included Head of LATAM operations and Engineering Manager. As Head of LATAM operations, he advocated bridging the cultural gaps between the teams in the US and LATAM, developing feedback loops, creating technical and non-technical training for engineers, and owned general performance indicators for LATAM staff. As an Engineering Manager, Fernando was in charge of a business vertical related to maintenance and ad-hoc support where he collaborated with the Executive team in defining company strategy, developed processes, policies, and documentation, built a team of distributed software engineers, and owned the employee experience cycle (hiring, onboarding, career progression, retention, and offboarding).
- In november 2022, Fernando decided to pursue Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition full time, and since he has dedicated to collaborate with operating Search Funds and participate with the ETA ecosystem while preparing to raise his own Search Fund.
- Fernando is currently studying a master’s degree in Business and Technology from Collective Academy, holds a M.Sc. Embedded Systems from the University of Essex, and a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from ITESM.
- Fernando has deep management and technological experience in the context of startups, growth companies, and operating Serch Funds. On the personal side, Fernando is married and the father of two children and four dogs.
